It was a fun first week of the 2017 DBLL box lacrosse season! There were some close games and
exciting play. A quick rain storm came through at the end of game 2, literally flooding the rink. Once the rain ended, the teams playing game 3 decided they'd like to play. Splashing through the puddles, the last two games proved to be fun and after power washing the rink the week before, most of the slippery spots were gone, leaving a decent playing surface in wet conditions.
Game 1 was the closest of the day, with the Lakers coming out on top of the Cavaliers 13-12. The Cavaliers mounted a valiant comeback with a long possession at the very end of the game and several shots on goal, but could not put in the tying goal before the game ended. Game 2 saw the Bucks come out on top of the Timberwolves 13-6. In game 3 the Bulls topped the Celtics 9-6. And in the final game of the night, the Trailblazers eked out a 6-5 win over the Raptors.
The week 2 schedule is as follows:
4:00 p.m. - Bucks vs. Celtics
5:00 p.m. - Trailblazers vs. Timberwolves
6:00 p.m. - Lakers vs. Raptors
7:00 p.m. - Cavaliers vs. Bulls
With a few additional players registering after week 1, we have adjusted the rosters a bit. Please check the TEAMS page to see the new rosters.

DBLL Regular Season Over; Playoffs This Sunday
The DBLL regular season finished last weekend with two teams claiming the top spot at 5-1. The Riverhawks claim the #1 seed with a head to head win over the Catamounts in week 1. The Catamounts get the #2 seed. The #6 seed is claimed by the Seawolves based on a head to head win over the Great Danes. The Great Danes are the #7 seed. Three teams finished with 3-3 records. The Bearcats take the #3 seed based on the second tie breaker, head to head against common opponents with a better record. The Wildcats take the #4 seed based on the third tie breaker, goals against. The Retrievers enter the playoffs with the #5 seed (playoff tie breakers are described on the Rules page on the website).
Here's what this Sunday's playoff schedule looks like:
1:00 p.m. - #6 Seawolves vs. #7 Great Danes
2:00 p.m. - #2 Catamounts vs. #5 Retrievers
3:00 p.m. - #3 Bearcats vs. #4 Wildcats
4:00 p.m. - #1 Riverhawks vs. #6/#7 winner
5:00 p.m. - #2/#5 winner vs. #3/#4 winner
6:00 p.m. - Championship Game
Please be sure to relay this schedule to your team. We haven't had very good turn out for the last couple weeks of regular season games. Please try to get your players to the final week of playoffs. There will be no fill ins for playoffs, you will have to play with your regular team players only. Be sure each team has a goalie. Designate your goalie NOW so we can get the games started on time.
Stay tuned for any weather related location changes. Last week the rink stayed wet despite early clearing of the water. It's just not drying right now due to the sun being so low in the sky this time of year. There is no more rain in the forecast this week and it looks like the rink is pretty dry right now. If we get any rain this week we will have to change sites. The alternate site is Portman hockey rink. As of now though, we will be at Lower Chester again this Sunday. Stay tuned!

Exciting Second Week of Box Lacrosse
Week 2 was wet and games were moved inside to the Four Seasons Arena in Carlton. It was a good venue and games were exciting! Two games ended with overtime goals in Braveheart.
In Game 1, the Catamounts held off the Retrievers 8-5 in a game that was closer than the three goal difference would indicate. Game 2 was an exciting affair as the RiverHawks held off the SeaWolves 13-12 in overtime. The RiverHawks held a lead for most of the game and the SeaWolves came back to take the lead with seconds to play. With 4 seconds left, Will Smyth heaved a desperation shot on goal from mid-rink that went in to tie the game. In Braveheart, Matt Porter would win the opening faceoff and take the ball down to score the winning goal. In Game 3, the BearCats controlled the game leading by as many as 5 goals at one point. However, the WildCats would continue to chip away at the lead and tie the game. The ensuing overtime Braveheart saw both players get shots on net with saves by both goalies, before Ethan Palusky would retrieve his rebound and put the ball in the net for the 9-8 win.
Next weeks games are scheduled to go back to Lower Chester if the weather remains dry. Next weeks schedule looks like:
4:00 p.m. - Great Danes vs. Catamounts
